FAQ

    1. Is this our hobby?
-No, this is more than our hobby. We are both personally and professionally devoted toward studying butterflies. We earned our master's degrees in Biology from Eastern New Mexico University, USA, with focus on butterflies. We are always traveling, reading literature, and making new discoveries on butterflies.

    2. Why care butterflies?
-Insects are fundamental for our survival. From causing pollination that provides our food to themselves acting as food for higher organisms such as birds and reptiles, butterflies are more than just beautiful creatures. However, they are sensitive to changes in their environments. Many species of butterflies rely on specific environmental conditions and host plants to complete their life cycles and the changing climate is slowly wiping out their populations worldwide.

    3. Are we an organization?
-No. We are just a couple who are obsessed about butterflies.

    4. What is our vision/goal?
-We want to bring these beautiful animals in the eyes of public via their photography in their natural habitats, and work toward their conservation. That being said, we ourselves want to see as many of them as possible!

    5. Where does the money to travel come from?
-We live a very frugal life and spend almost all our earnings in traveling and photography gears. We are students and thus it’s not easy.

    6. What will the world/society benefit from this?
-The study of biodiversity is important to all societies. We cannot protect what we don’t know. Our discoveries have been published in various peer-reviewed journals and newspapers. Occasionally we have inspired many youths to follow this trend.

    7. Why is the “Butterflies of Nepal” section focused more?
-We are from Nepal, a beautiful land of Himalayas, and started our journey with the butterflies of Nepal. It is a small country with only 147,181 square km area, but has nearly 700 species of butterflies which is almost the total number of species found in the USA. Eventually, we will go back to Nepal to discover more species there and work toward their conservation!

    8. What is our current focus?
-We are currently focusing on Neotropical species of butterflies. We are planning trips to Central and South America and saving pennies to make it happen.

    9. Are we looking for collaborators?
-Always. You can add us to your trips.
